![]() 3G iPhone The new generation of 3G iPhones are with us! Their arrival was heralded by T-Mobile in Germany slashing prices from 399 euros to 99 euros (some £78), followed by dramatic price reductions across Europe. This was clearly a move to clear non-3G stock, before official announcements of 3G's arrival made them undesirable. 02 has finally completed the basic phase of its 3G rollout, leaving the way clear for a higher-speed iPhone. Rumours abound that the new wave of 3g iPhones will be radically different to their forerunners. The Times Online rquoted technical experts within Apple as reporting that there would be multiple versions of the iPhone, with one mainly for music and video, (similar to the existing model), and one for people who want to communicate (with a full QWERTY keyboard), and one for people who want it as a substitute for their laptop - that will let them browse the internet on a bigger screen. Critics have been quick to point out that Apple already offer special gizmos for particular functions, i.e. the iPod for music, and such a move might compromise the whole raison d’etre of the iPhone It is still unclear just what the future holds for the 3g iPhone, but it does seem increasingly likely that the model may feature flip versions to allow for a bigger screen or a slider model with a full QWERTY keyboard. The 3G version of the phone is expected to sell better in Europe than the previous iPhone, which many users found slow to access the internet over a mobile phone network.
